John A. "Mac" McQuown, who worked with Dimensional co-founder David Booth on the first institutional index funds at Wells Fargo, maintains close ties to passive investing as a member of the board of directors of Dimensional Fund Advisors. The first chairman of Wells Fargo Investment Advisors (now Barclays Global Investors), he is a principal of Diversified Credit Investments LLC, which builds diversified corporate debt portfolios using quantitative analysis, and he has built several businesses around the concept of managing credit risk.
Mac holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School and a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Northwestern University. In addition to serving on Dimensional's board, he also sits on the advisory councils of the University of Chicago's Graduate School of Business, UC San Diego's Scripps Institution of Oceanography, and the Esalen Institute.
